1 - The Italian Mozart Association announces the sixth International Competition for the performance of Mozart's concerts for flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn and orchestra so as to highlight the most talented young performers worldwide

2 - Participation is open to musicians of all nationalities who were born after  1st January 1982 . No music academy diploma is required

3 - The competition will take place in Rovereto from 15th May to 26th May 2012.

4 – Those wishing to participate should fill in the enclosed form and send it to:

5 - With the application form please enclose, as a non refundable registration fee, either a copy of an electronic bank transfer to:

for Eur 110.00 (one hundred and ten Eur).
Also please note that you should enclose photographs (one passport size and one full body) and a Curriculum Vitae either in Italian or in English.

6 - The draw to determine the competitors order of appearance will take place on 9th May, at 6:00 pm, in our office at 48, Via della Terra. The drawn letter will apply to every single instrument. As from 10th May, all competitors, may enquire about the day of their appearance:

7 - The competition consists of three rounds for each instrument:
 preliminary, semi finals, final

8 - The preliminary rounds are based on the performance of the first movement of a Mozart's concerto chosen by the competitor, accompanied by piano. The pianist is the official accompanist of the competition.

9 - No more than 12 competitors for each instrument will be admitted to the semi-finals. This round will consist of the performance of the second and third movements of the same Mozart's concerto chosen by the competitor, always accompanied by piano.

10 - No more than 3 competitors for each instrument will be selected for the final round, which consists of the performance of the same entire concerto, with piano.

11 - The preliminary and semifinal rounds will be assessed by a specific limi- ted Jury appointed by Associazione Mozart Italia. The final rounds will be eva- luated by the general jury that is composed of all the specific united Juries. 

12 - At the end of each final exam will be announced the winners of the prizes for the specific instrument. The competition will conclude with a gala concert with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, with the participation of the five winners.

13 - The first prize winners will be awarded the prize of Euro 2.000,00 (two thousand euros), The winners of the 2nd and 3rd  places for each instrument will not be awarded cash prizes, but will receive their plates.

Concerts Awards for the competition winners

The Mozart Association Italy (Rovereto national headquarters) will invite the five competition winners to perform (on condition that they agree to participate) in four concerts which will be organized in September 2012, in collaboration with the Orchestra Musisches Gymnasium Salzburg, at the Rovereto 'Auditorium F. Melotti, in Borgo Valsugana (Amici della Musica), in collaboration with AMI (Turin, Italy) and AMI (Terni, Italy).


Other concerts will follow as shown below:


- Mozart Association, based in Chemnitz Saxony, 2013 Season;

- The 'Montreal Chamber Orchestra' will invite a competition winner of their choice to perform in a concert in their Concert Season 2012/2013;

- Auditorium of the Aldobrandini Stables in Frascati (Rome) will invite a competition winner of their choice to perform as part of a concert sponsored by the Institution Artis Music Collegium concert season in 2012-2013.

  Further concerts may be organized.

The names of the five winners will also be made knows as soloists to all Italian orchestras and orchestras of various other nations. By September 2012 the Mozart Association will communicate any engagements.

14 – All participants must pay for their own travel and accomodation costs to/from and during their stay in Rovereto.

15 - The competition schedule is the following:

Tuesday May 15th  -  flute preliminary 
Wednesday May 16th  -  flute semi-final 

Thursday May 17th  -  oboe preliminary 
Friday May 18th  -  oboe semi-final  

Saturday May 19th  -  horn preliminary 
Sunday May 20th  -  horn semi-final 

Monday May 21st  -  clarinet preliminary 
Tuesday May22nd  -  clarinet semi-final 

Wednesday May23rd  -  bassoon preliminary  
Wednesday May23rd  -  bassoon semi-final 

Thursday May24th - bassoon, horn e oboe finals with piano
Friday May25th - clarinet and flute finals with piano

Saturday May 26th - Gala concert of the five winners, with Orchestra Haydn at Sala Filarmonica - Rovereto

16 – All pieces must be played by heart in each round. Competitors are advised to use the Urtext edition

17 - By signing the application form for this competition, competitors accept the competition rules. The decisions of the Jury will be final and without appeal. In the event of any doubts arising from the translation into foreign languages, only the text in Italian will be valid.
